Concern:
Workers may fall off the edge of the roof.
Countermeasure:
A barrier along the perimeter will hold back anyone coming too close. A parapet (part of the permanent structure) that can function as a perimeter guard eliminates the need to provide temporary fall protection for construction and maintenance activities on the roof thus reducing total costs over the building life cycle.
